The Orchards, Norwest | Four Residences, One Considered Vision

A display apartment project for Sekisui House

Every residential development has its own story to tell.

For Sekisui House's The Orchards in Norwest, Sydney, our brief was to furnish and style four display apartments, creating a collection of considered interiors that would bring the development's residential offering to life.

While each apartment required its own design response, the broader objective remained consistent: to create beautifully resolved spaces that complement the architecture, communicate the functionality of each residence and allow prospective buyers to imagine life at The Orchards.

For Domus, the project was an opportunity to demonstrate how thoughtful furniture selection, styling and a cohesive creative direction can transform multiple residences into a connected display experience.

Four apartments, four individual experiences

One of the opportunities presented by furnishing multiple display apartments within the same development is the ability to showcase different ways of living.

Rather than approaching each apartment with an identical furniture scheme, we considered how the individual layouts, proportions and spatial arrangements could inform the design direction.

Furniture scale, placement, materiality and styling were carefully considered to create a distinct experience within each residence, while maintaining a consistent level of sophistication across the collection.

The result is four interiors that feel connected to the broader development, yet have their own individual character.

For prospective buyers, this provides a more complete understanding of the lifestyle possibilities within The Orchards.

Designing around the architecture

Our approach to every display apartment begins with the architecture.

At The Orchards, we considered the relationship between the interior finishes, spatial planning and furniture selections to create environments that feel cohesive and resolved.

The objective was not to compete with the architectural design, but to complement it.

Furniture proportions were selected to work comfortably within each space, while considered arrangements helped establish natural circulation and clearly defined living zones.

Layers of texture, complementary tones, artwork and accessories introduced warmth and personality, creating interiors that feel sophisticated without losing their sense of comfort.

These details are particularly important within a display environment, where the furniture needs to help buyers understand both the practical functionality and the lifestyle potential of a residence.

Communicating scale and functionality

A beautifully furnished display apartment does more than create visual appeal.

It helps buyers understand how a space works.

The placement of a dining table demonstrates how comfortably people can gather. A considered living arrangement communicates the relationship between furniture, circulation and outlook. Bedroom furniture establishes proportion and shows how a room can function without feeling overcrowded.

Across the four apartments at The Orchards, these practical considerations were central to our design approach.

Every furniture selection needed to contribute to the overall composition while supporting the way each space would be experienced.

Our goal was to create interiors that feel effortless, allowing prospective buyers to focus on the home rather than question how they might furnish it.

A cohesive experience across the development

When delivering multiple display apartments, consistency is just as important as individuality.

Each residence needs to stand on its own, but together they should communicate a clear and recognisable standard of design.

At The Orchards, we approached the four apartments as a connected collection, ensuring the overall level of furnishing, styling and presentation remained consistent.

This cohesion helps reinforce the positioning of the development and creates a seamless experience as buyers move between different residences.

It also provides the sales and marketing team with a broader collection of furnished environments to support inspections, photography and ongoing property marketing.

From concept to installation

Delivering four display apartments requires more than a strong creative vision.

It also requires careful coordination across design, procurement, logistics and installation.

For The Orchards, Domus managed the furniture and styling process from concept development and specification through to procurement, delivery, installation and final presentation.

With multiple residences to furnish, coordinating furniture selections, supplier lead times, deliveries and installation schedules was an important part of the project.

Our end-to-end approach allowed the creative direction to remain consistent throughout the process, ensuring that the details considered during design were carried through to the completed spaces.

This is particularly valuable for development projects, where installation timelines need to align with broader construction, sales and marketing milestones.

Bringing the development to life

For a developer, the display apartment is one of the most tangible expressions of the lifestyle being offered.

It is where architectural plans, interior finishes and the broader development vision become something buyers can physically experience.

At The Orchards, the four completed display apartments provide prospective purchasers with the opportunity to experience different residential layouts, understand furniture scale and imagine how each home could support their lifestyle.

For Domus, the project reflects the importance of creating interiors that are not only visually compelling, but also purposeful.

Because a successful display apartment should do more than showcase furniture.

It should help buyers see the potential of the home and feel connected to the development.

We're proud to have partnered with Sekisui House to deliver these four display apartments at The Orchards, Norwest, and to contribute to the experience of this residential community.
